Adult Sunday School is continuing their study of Diana Butler Bass's book, Broken We Kneel, through March 22. All are welcome to attend. Bass asks questions related to Christian identity about patriotism and citizenship and how they relate to congregational life. Empty Bowls Tickets Now on Sale: This year’s event will be held on Saturday, February 29, at Mylan Park, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $20.00 and will be sold in the parlor each Sunday in February. Children 12 and under eat for free, but do not receive a handmade ceramic bowl. (Children’s tickets are $10 if they wish to receive a bowl.) New Member Class: If you are interested in joining First Presbyterian Church or would just like to learn more about the church then join us for a New Member Class after worship on Sunday, February 2, in Room 3. Lunch will be provided. The class should last until about 1:45 p.m.
There is a Progressive Faith Moms group forming, and all moms in the church are invited to join us for our very first gathering on Wednesday, February 5, at 6:00 p.m., in the church gym. Kids are welcome.
Spiritual Autobiography Writing Class at OLLI: Andrew Rorabaugh (from Morgantown Church of the Brethren) will be facilitating a 2-session class at OLLI, located in the Mountaineer Mall. Classes will be Thursdays, February 13 and 20, from 12:45 – 2:35 p.m. It will consist of a short review of the nature of spiritual autobiography writing before continuing with three brief writing exercises each session (e.g., postcard stories, six-word stories, etc.). There will be a chance to share your writings in an appreciative and safe environment, but sharing is entirely optional. All spiritual traditions and writing abilities are welcome; more info & registration at: olliatwvu.org.
Dinners Needed: FPC supports the Wednesday night WVU Presbyterian student fellowship meetings by providing hot, nutritious meals for the students. Volunteers are needed to cook and deliver a nutritious meal (for about 15 students) to the Campus Ministry Center. This mission will help sustain the students as the search committee finds a new campus minister. We are organizing an all-church ski trip on Saturday, February 8, to Hidden Valley Ski Resort. Please find information and signup sheets hanging on the bulletin board in the parlor.
The ecumenical discussion group will meet at 6:30 p.m., on Wednesday, February 12, in Room 1 to continue its discussion of “Painting the Stars.” This session will the third lesson, “Getting Genesis Wrong.” All are welcome to join.
Attention Parents: We have a kids’ space in the back of the sanctuary with sensory and quiet activities to give children an outlet during worship. Don’t worry if a little noise comes from one of our little worshippers - we are grateful to have all ages in worship with us! We also have a nursery on the lower level for infants through age 5. Please feel free to take your children to meet our nursery attendants, Janine and Teanna, if you wish to do so.
We have a Prayer Place in the sanctuary for you to share prayer requests prior to the service. These requests will also be used to create a church prayer list distributed each week.
