Adult Sunday School is continuing their study of Diana Butler Bass's book, Broken We Kneel, through March 22. All are welcome to attend. Bass asks questions related to Christian identity about patriotism and citizenship and how they relate to congregational life. She reminds us that our Christian identity, at times, isn't compatible with national politics. Books are available from Margaret Bolt for $10.00. For any questions, ask John Bolt or George Lilley.
Red Wagon Offering/Food Collection: A reminder that we collect fresh fruit and vegetables (along with non-perishable food, household supplies, and personal care items) next Sunday, the last Sunday of the month. All items will be taken alternately to Rock Forge or Canyon food pantries the following day. We greatly appreciate your donations, which help support the needy in our community.
Home Communion: Seeking volunteers to join devoted team who deliver communion to members who cannot attend church on first Sunday of month. Must be ordained Elder or Deacon, currently serving or not. Flexible scheduling and training provided. See Mavis Grant or George Lilley for more information.
We are hosting an Empty Bowls painting party at The Wow Factory in Star City on Saturday, February 1 from 4-6:00 p.m. We will paint and decorate bowls that will be a part of the Empty Bowls Monongalia fundraiser benefitting food insecure persons in our county. Cost is $8.
New Member Class: If you are interested in joining First Presbyterian Church or would just like to learn more about the church then join us for a New Member Class after worship on Sunday, February 2, in Room 3. Lunch will be provided. The class should last until about 1:45 p.m.
There is a Presby MOMS group forming, and all moms in the church are invited to join us for our very first gathering on Wednesday, February 5, at 6:00 pm, in the church gym. Kids are welcome.
We are organizing an all-church ski trip on Saturday, February 8, to Hidden Valley Ski Resort. Please find information and signup sheets hanging on the bulletin board in the parlor.
Attention Parents: We have a kids’ space in the back of the sanctuary with sensory and quiet activities to give children an outlet during worship. Don’t worry if a little noise comes from one of our little worshippers - we are grateful to have all ages in worship with us! We also have a nursery on the lower level for infants through age 5. Please feel free to take your children to meet our nursery attendants, Janine and Teanna, if you wish to do so.
We have a Prayer Place in the sanctuary for you to share prayer requests prior to the service. These requests will also be used to create a church prayer list distributed each week.
FPC’s Breeze Account: As you may know, our church directory is available online through Breeze. It’s a free, convenient way to access the church directory, send emails to members, and view/edit your contact information. If you haven’t registered, email Johnetta (FPCMorgantown@gmail.com) or Kim (PresbyMorgantown@gmail.com) and they will send a welcome email for you to set up a new account.
We have a church communication form for announcements shared in the bulletin, Good News, E-news, website, and social media accounts. You can access the form on the church website (https://www.firstpresmorgantown.org/resource-page) or pick up a paper copy from the church office. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kim (304-296-8236; firstname.lastname@example.org).
