Congregational Meeting - Please stay for a few minutes after worship on Sunday, January 26, for our Annual Congregational Meeting. Deacons will host a luncheon after the meeting. We encourage all members to attend.
Dinners Needed: FPC supports the Wednesday night WVU Presbyterian Student Fellowship meetings by providing hot, nutritious meals for the students. Volunteers are needed to cook and deliver a nutritious meal for about 15 students to the Campus Ministry Center. This mission helps sustain the students as the search committee finds a new campus minister. Contact Donna Weems (304-599-2867) for more information. Contact the church office (304-296-8236) or use our Doodle poll (https://doodle.com/poll/575367fwdkdnidg7) to sign up to deliver a meal.
Family Fun Night- Movie Night: The Nurture & Learning Committee is hosting a family movie night at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, at the church. All families are invited to join us, or you are welcome to drop your children off and enjoy a date night or time to yourself.
Beginning next Sunday, Jan. 19, the Adult Sunday School class will study “Broken We Kneel: Reflections on Faith and Citizenship” by Diana Butler Bass. Books are $10 and available from Margaret Bolt. Note that we’re studying the 2nd edition, which was revised after the events in Charlottesville, Va.
Announcements for the upcoming Good News are due by Sunday, January 19. You may submit them electronically by filling out the Church Communication Form on our website (https://www.firstpresmorgantown.org/resource-page) or picking up a hard copy of the form at the church office. Thank you for your contributions!
Session’s next meeting is at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 19. Session is the leadership body of the church that gathers monthly to pray, set direction for the church, oversee the operations of all our missions and ministries, and work with the pastor to ensure the church continues to demonstrate the love of God in Christ as a church actively engaged with our Greater Morgantown community. Congregation members and friends are always welcome to attend Session meetings or to write and share any news or questions with Session. All correspondence can be sent to our Clerk of Session, John Bolt (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Bible & Burritos and Bible Workshop Resume: Our Tuesday Bible studies, Bible & Burritos (7:00 p.m. at Black Bear, Evansdale) and Bible Workshop (11:00 a.m. in Room 3) will resume on January 21.
We are organizing an all-church ski trip on Saturday, February 8, to Hidden Valley Ski Resort. Please find information and signup sheets hanging on the bulletin board in the parlor.
Stewardship Reminder: Pledge Drive - Return your pledge by either 1) depositing your card in the offering plate or the collection box at church on Sunday; 2) mailing your card to the church office; or 3) emailing the church administrative assistant, Johnetta Velickoff, at email@example.com. Thank you for your faithfulness in giving.
We, the people of First Presbyterian Church, are a welcoming congregation practicing the hospitality of Jesus by greeting, welcoming, and embracing visitors and guests. In addition to extending hospitality, we gladly assist visitors by helping them find their way through the building. If you’re unsure of where something is, just ask! We happily and consistently endeavor to reflect Christ’s love to visitors, guests, neighbors, and each other.
Attention Parents: We have a kids’ space in the back of the sanctuary with sensory and quiet activities to give children an outlet during worship. Don’t worry if a little noise comes from one of our little worshippers - we are grateful to have all ages in worship with us! We also have a nursery on the lower level for infants through age 5. Please feel free to take your children to meet our nursery attendants, Janine and Teanna, if you wish to do so.
We have a Prayer Place in the sanctuary for you to share prayer requests prior to the service. These requests will also be used to create a church prayer list distributed each week.
Video recordings of our Sunday sermons are now available online. Please visit us at https://vimeo.com/fpcmorgantown to view our full catalog.
