Bev’s Mitten Tree Project continues through Epiphany (January). The congregation will have the opportunity to decorate the bare Christmas tree in the parlor with mittens, hats, scarves, underwear, and socks in both children and adult sizes. Adult sizes are always needed to share with our pancake breakfast guests. Last year, we distributed the collected items to PCDC, pancake breakfast, The Shack, and St. Ursula’s. Please help individuals in our community to be warmer during the coming winter days. You can even bring something different every Sunday!
Everyone is invited to an afternoon of Christmas caroling on Sunday, December 22, from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. We will meet at the church and then travel together to various locations in our community. Hot cider and appetizers will be provided upon returning to the church.
Christmas Joy Offering: God has blessed the Church with incredible leadership, but those leaders sometimes need help from their communities as well. The Christmas Joy Offering addresses the assistance needed by some of our leaders, including leadership development for communities of color, and support for Presbyterian church workers in their time of need. Your gift to the Christmas Joy Offering makes a difference to students and church workers in need and helps them find hope, and perhaps a better future. Thank you for your gift to the Christmas Joy Offering.
We are organizing an all-church ski trip on Saturday, December 8, to Hidden Valley Ski Resort. Please find information and signup sheets hanging on the bulletin board in the parlor.
Stewardship Reminders: Contributions - must be received in the church office or postmarked by December 31 in order to receive credit in 2019. Pledge Drive - Return your pledge by either 1) depositing your card in the offering plate or the collection box at church on Sundays; 2) mailing your card to the church office; or 3) emailing the church administrative assistant, Johnetta Velickoff, at email@example.com. Thank you for your faithfulness in giving.
Did you know there are two ways you can support FPC just by doing your holiday shopping? • Amazon Smile: Amazon Smile is the same Amazon you know. Same products, same prices, same service. When you start your shopping at https://smile.amazon.com/, Amazon will donate 0.5% of your eligible Amazon Smile purchases to the charitable organization of your choice, including First Presbyterian Church, Morgantown! • Kroger Plus Community Rewards: Kroger Community Rewards makes fund-raising easy by donating to local organizations based on the shopping you do every day. Once you link your card to an organization, all you have to do is shop at Kroger and swipe your Plus Card! Visit https://www.kroger.com/account/enrollCommunityRewardsNow/ for more information.
We, the people of First Presbyterian Church, are a welcoming congregation practicing the hospitality of Jesus by greeting, welcoming, and embracing visitors and guests. In addition to extending hospitality, we gladly assist visitors by helping them find their way through the building. If you’re unsure of where something is, just ask! We happily and consistently endeavor to reflect Christ’s love to visitors, guests, neighbors, and each other.
Attention Parents: We have a kids’ space in the back of the sanctuary with sensory and quiet activities to give children an outlet during worship. Don’t worry if a little noise comes from one of our little worshippers - we are grateful to have all ages in worship with us! We also have a nursery on the lower level for infants through age 5. Please feel free to take your children to meet our nursery attendants, Janine and Teanna, if you wish to do so.
We have a Prayer Place in the sanctuary for you to share prayer requests prior to the service. These requests will also be used to create a church prayer list distributed each week.
FPC’s Breeze Account: As you may know, our church directory is available online through Breeze. It’s a free, convenient way to access the church directory, send emails to members, and view/edit your contact information. If you haven’t registered, email Johnetta (FPCMorgantown@gmail.com) or Kim (PresbyMorgantown@gmail.com) and they will send a welcome email for you to set up a new account.
We have a church communication form for announcements shared in the bulletin, Good News, E-news, website, and social media accounts. You can access the form on the church website (https://www.firstpresmorgantown.org/resource-page) or pick up a paper copy from the church office. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kim (304-296-8236; firstname.lastname@example.org).
