Worship committee has ordered Advent books to assist your family in preparing for the Christmas season. Take a few minutes and read pages to help find the true joy of Christmas. The books are available in the parlor and welcome table in the foyer.
Announcements for the upcoming Good News are due by Tuesday, November 19. You may submit them electronically by filling out the Church Communication Form on our website (https://www.firstpresmorgantown.org/resource-page) or picking up a hard copy of the form at the church office. Thank you for your contributions!
Faith & Life Speaker Series: Join us Wednesday November 20 at the Harless center for the next Faith and Life Series. Jeremy Myers of InterVarsity will share his story of ministry on WVU's campus. The event starts at 7 pm. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or call Megan Pearcy at 304-741-4636 with any questions.
Hanging of the Greens: Are you ready to prepare the church for the Advent season? After the service on Sunday, November 24, please help worship committee with the Hanging of the Greens (changing the paraments for the holiday season). As usual, we will furnish homemade soup, bread, and dessert for everyone helping. Please join in the fun – there is a lot to do and good food to eat.
Red Wagon Offering/Food Collection: A reminder that we collect fresh fruit and vegetables (along with non-perishable food, household supplies, and personal care items) next Sunday, the last Sunday of the month. All items will be taken alternately to Rock Forge or Canyon food pantries the following day. We greatly appreciate your donations, which help support the needy in our community.
Sunday Ecumenical Group: All are invited to join an ecumenical group at 6:30 p.m. on December 11, in Room 1, to begin the study of "Painting the Stars." Together we will use a video series exploring the divine yearning all creation carries that we call God. Painting the Stars considers an evolutionary model; an image that is not static; a dynamic yearning. The series invites participants into an awareness that we are not separate from the creativity that created us.
Presbyterian Women’s Annual Cookies ‘N More Sale will be held from 9:00 a.m.—12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, in the fellowship hall. Proceeds from the cookie sale, treasure table, wreath sales, and bazaar items will go to PW’s mission fund that supports international concerns, community efforts, and church projects. You can help in the following ways: baking and buying cookies, donating gently used items to the treasure table, buying bazaar items, buying a wreath, and helping set up and work the event. Orders for fresh holiday wreaths and holiday décor from Tatham’s Modern Homestead will be taken through Sunday, November 24. Sign-up sheets will be available in the parlor for bakers and volunteers. We will need workers to help set up on Friday, December 13, and workers for the day of the event. Please join Presbyterian Women in support of its many projects.
Save the date for the Advent Cantata during worship on December 15. We will be looking for youth and children to be narrators and cast members. See Ken Godwin if you would like to be a member of the choir for this event.
Volunteers Needed: Consider participating in church life and getting to know a few members by volunteering. You will be greatly appreciated and may only be needed 1-2 times per year. Deacons need volunteers in the following areas:
• Communion Prep: Two people needed the first Sunday of month to prepare the elements. It takes about 1/2 hour. There are clear directions and training. • Home Communion: You must have served as Deacon or Elder. There are 2 members receiving and training will be provided. • Ushers: No training necessary. Contact: Brenda Ely (email@example.com; 304-296-1406)
We, the people of First Presbyterian Church, are a welcoming congregation practicing the hospitality of Jesus by greeting, welcoming, and embracing visitors and guests. In addition to extending hospitality, we gladly assist visitors by helping them find their way through the building. If you’re unsure of where something is, just ask! We happily and consistently endeavor to reflect Christ’s love to visitors, guests, neighbors, and each other.
Attention Parents: We have a kids’ space in the back of the sanctuary with sensory and quiet activities to give children an outlet during worship. Don’t worry if a little noise comes from one of our little worshippers - we are grateful to have all ages in worship with us! We also have a nursery on the lower level for infants through age 5. Please feel free to take your children to meet our nursery attendants, Janine and Teanna, if you wish to do so.
We have a Prayer Place in the sanctuary for you to share prayer requests prior to the service. These requests will also be used to create a church prayer list distributed each week.
FPC’s Breeze Account: As you may know, our church directory is available online through Breeze. It’s a free, convenient way to access the church directory, send emails to members, and view/edit your contact information. If you haven’t registered, email Johnetta (FPCMorgantown@gmail.com) or Kim (PresbyMorgantown@gmail.com) and they will send a welcome email for you to set up a new account.
We have a church communication form for announcements shared in the bulletin, Good News, E-news, website, and social media accounts. You can access the form on the church website (https://www.firstpresmorgantown.org/resource-page) or pick up a paper copy from the church office. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kim (304-296-8236; firstname.lastname@example.org).
