Ministry to West Virginia University

Students have a place to grow in faith and be nurtured in Christian community!
Leaving your hometown can be quite an adjustment and finding a new place to worship in an unfamiliar town can be a daunting task. First Presbyterian invites you to be part of our family while you are here in Morgantown. In partnership with the Presbyterian Student Fellowship at WVU, we sponsor a variety of social groups, activities, and discussion groups designed to interest all ages including activities tailored to the needs and concerns unique to students. We understand how important it is for you to have a "home away from home," so please feel free to stop by the church to sample some of our activities as well as join us on Sundays for worship.

Students are invited to join in the life of First Presbyterian Church as well as participate in undergraduate and graduate student fellowship gatherings and Bible study groups directed by the Rev. Dr. Shelly Barrick Parsons, full-time WVU Presbyterian Campus Pastor, who works out of the Campus Ministry Center on nearby Willey Street. A Brief History of Presbyterian Campus Ministry

Ice Cream Social, Final Exam Care Packages
First Presbyterian Church hosts an ice cream social at the beginning of each fall semester. In addition, members gather donations of items to assemble into care packages for students during final exam week. The care packages include items such as instant soup, snacks, tea bags, and good wishes to help ease stress during final exams. Host family opportunities are also available.

Westminster House Project
We are excited to have just committed to building two six-story dormitories nearby to house 450 WVU students in a faith-based community and an expanded Presbyterian Child Development Center. Plans are underway to develop the project.
